BNI Promotes Transparency Through Education on World Right to Know Day

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI emphasized its commitment to public information disclosure by holding a series of educational forums to commemorate International Right to Know Day in Palembang, Sunday (28/9/2025).

This event involved approximately 130 students from IBA University and featured the Central Information Commission (KIP), academics, and BNI representatives.

Present on the occasion were KIP Commissioner for Socialization, Education and Public Communication Samrotunnajah Ismail, IBA University Chancellor Lily Rahmawati Harahap, and BNI Area Head of Regional Office 03 Palembang Herry Juhaeri.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo emphasized that information transparency is an important pillar in building public trust.

"Public information transparency is the foundation for building public trust. We hope that BNI's efforts can make a real contribution to increasing transparency and accountability within public bodies," Okki said in a written statement.

KIP Commissioner for Socialization, Education, and Public Communication, Samrotunnajah Ismail, who was also present at the event, emphasized the role of the younger generation in promoting a culture of transparency.

"Students, as the young generation, have a strategic role in ensuring that information transparency truly becomes a culture. They are agents of change who may encourage public bodies to be more transparent, as well as educate the public not to hesitate to use their right to know," she said.

In addition to the joint forum with students, BNI also held sharing sessions with BNI Partners and internal forums for employees. The agenda emphasized the practical implementation of public information disclosure within the company environment so that the spirit of transparency does not just remain a mere discourse, but becomes a daily practice.

Samrotunnajah added that Indonesia is the fifth country in Asia to regulate the public's right to public information through the Public Information Disclosure Law (UU KIP) Number 14 of 2008. The presence of this regulation is a significant milestone in strengthening government transparency and democratic practices.

"This International Right to Know Day should serve as a reminder to us all that information disclosure is not merely an obligation, but a necessity for building good governance," she stressed.

Through this activity, BNI and the Public Information Commission (KIP) hope to increase public awareness, especially among the younger generation, regarding the exercise of their right to public information. This will further ingrain a culture of transparency, support accountable governance in government and corporations, and promote the public interest.
