Indonesian badminton has found new momentum thanks to the impressive performance of its young female players at the Uber Cup 2026. The Indonesian Uber Cup team, sponsored by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI), advanced to the semifinals after a solid performance at the Horsens Forum in Denmark.
This achievement is a clear indication that consistent and focused training of young athletes is now yielding tangible results on the global stage. Despite the public’s high expectations for the national badminton team, the young players have performed with maturity and confidence.
The 3-1 victory over host Denmark in the quarterfinals underscored that quality. Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo proved to be the deciding factor with a straight-set victory over Amalie Schulz (21-13, 21-18), demonstrating control of the match and composure at crucial moments.
Earlier, team captain Putri Kusuma Wardani opened the scoring by defeating Line Christophersen. The doubles pair of Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari also delivered a consistent performance to secure a crucial point.
The team’s journey to the semifinals was built on a foundation of consistent performance dating back to the group stage, starting with a hard-fought victory over Canada, a dominant win against Australia, and securing the top spot in the group following a competitive match against Chinese Taipei.
Young players such as Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi, Febi Setianingrum, and Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo have become powerful symbols of the increasingly solid and promising new generation of Indonesian women’s badminton.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo asserted that this achievement is the result of a long-term commitment to development.
“This achievement demonstrates that consistent and structured training can produce young athletes capable of competing on the global stage. BNI is committed to continuing to support a sustainable training ecosystem,” said Okki.
BNI positions itself as a strategic partner in fostering the development of top talent—not only in terms of achievements, but also in building character and a winning mindset.
“These young female athletes are bringing a new spirit to Indonesian badminton. They are proving that the future of the sport is in good hands,” he added.
Advancing to the semifinals is expected to serve as a crucial stepping stone toward further success, while also inspiring Indonesia’s younger generation to continue excelling on the world stage.
