PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI appreciates the success of the Indonesian men's doubles pair, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, who successfully won the 2026 Thailand Open title after defeating the Indian pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty with a score of 21-12, 25-23 at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok, Sunday (5/17/2026).

This victory demonstrated Leo/Daniel's mental toughness and quality of play, making them one of the world's elite pairs. Playing aggressively from the start, Leo/Daniel dominated the first game. In the intense second game, their composure and chemistry once again proved decisive, with Daniel's powerful smash securing the victory for the Red and White.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said Leo/Daniel's achievement was an important momentum for the revival and regeneration of Indonesian badminton at the world level.

"There's always hope for those who keep fighting and never give up. Congratulations to Leo/Daniel on their impressive achievement at the Thailand Open 2026. This isn't just a victory for the Indonesian men's doubles pair, but also a special gift for all Indonesians," said Okki.

According to Okki, Leo/Daniel's journey demonstrates that consistent athlete development will yield world-class achievements. As an official partner of PBSI, BNI remains committed to supporting the national badminton ecosystem, from developing young athletes, strengthening competitions, to mentoring athletes on the international stage.

"BNI believes that sporting achievements can inspire and strengthen national pride. Therefore, we continue to support PBSI in developing a generation of champions capable of bringing honor to Indonesia's name worldwide," he added.

Leo and Daniel are part of Indonesia's golden generation of badminton players, developed through PBSI's tiered coaching system. Leo, a Central Java-born athlete, developed at the PBSI National Training Center with support from BNI. Daniel, meanwhile, led Indonesia to its first-ever Suhandinata Cup victory.

Since being paired together at the junior level, Leo/Daniel have achieved numerous prestigious international achievements. In 2018–2019, the pair captured the BWF World Junior Championship 2019 in Kazan and the Asia Junior Championship 2019 in Suzhou. They also recorded impressive achievements, winning back-to-back Indonesia Masters and Thailand Masters titles.

Despite rotating pairs since 2024, Leo/Daniel's chemistry remained strong. Their reunion in 2026 proved to be a resurgence, catapulting them back to the top of the world podium with the Thailand Open 2026 title.

BNI believes this success also confirms the effectiveness of PBSI's long-term development, which has received ongoing support from various parties, including BNI as a sponsor and strategic partner in national badminton development.

"BNI, along with PBSI, will continue to support young Indonesian athletes in their journey to achieve the highest achievements at the world level. The winning spirit and fighting spirit demonstrated by Leo/Daniel must be maintained to maintain Indonesia's golden badminton tradition," Okki concluded.
