Digital Innovation Becomes BNI's Growth Engine

Digital Innovation Becomes BNI's Growth Engine

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BNI, continues to strengthen its digital transformation as a key driver of business growth. Through wondr by BNI in the retail segment and BNIdirect in the wholesale segment, BNI is expanding its digital services while boosting transaction activity and customer engagement.

As of the first semester of 2026, wondr by BNI had 15.1 million users, with 1.1 billion transactions totaling IDR958 trillion.

In the wholesale segment, BNIdirect recorded 279,700 users with 789 million transactions totaling IDR6.039 trillion. This growth demonstrates the increasingly important role of digital channels in supporting the financial activities of both individual and corporate customers.

BNI Director of Finance & Strategy Hussein Paolo Kartadjoemena said that BNI’s digital transformation is aimed not only at improving the convenience of its services, but also at expanding relationships with customers and unlocking new sources of business growth.

"The growth of transactions on wondr by BNI and BNIdirect shows that digital platforms are increasingly becoming an important part of customers' financial activities. This opens up space for BNI to expand engagement, increase transactions, and provide more solutions according to customer needs," said Paolo in a written statement.

The strengthening of BNI's digital services is also supported by an extensive transaction network. As of the first half of 2026, BNI operates 13,386 ATMs, over 229,000 branchless banking agents, and more than 1.042 million merchants and QRIS acceptance points.

BNI also continues to develop its Open API ecosystem, which connects with over 2,000 partners through 283 API services. This connectivity expands BNI's customer interaction points while supporting service integration with various business partners.

According to Paolo, the development of digital capabilities is also aimed at enhancing process efficiency while strengthening cross-selling potential and business development.

"Moving forward, we will continue to ensure that digital investments and innovation deliver tangible business impacts—whether through increased transactions, process efficiencies, cross-selling opportunities, or ecosystem development. In this way, technology will serve not merely as an enabler but as an integral part of BNI’s sustainable growth engine," said Paolo.

This digital strengthening is also part of BNI’s transformation as a state-owned enterprise (SOE) within the Danantara Indonesia ecosystem. By reinforcing its business fundamentals, technological capabilities, and digital services, BNI continues to enhance its competitiveness while supporting the activities of the public and the business sector.

In line with the spirit of Swadharma Bhakti Nagara, BNI will continue to enhance the capabilities of wondr by BNI and BNIdirect, expand digital connectivity, and integrate various transaction channels to improve service quality and strengthen sustainable business growth.
