Jakarta, 24 August 2020 --- As a series of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI was again appointed by government, in this case the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM), to distribute Productive Presidential Assistance (Banpres) to micro entrepreneurs.
This was marked by the launch of Banpres program which was attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Erick Thohir, the President Director of BNI, Herry Sidharta, and representatives of beneficiaries at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, 24 August 2020. This event was also attended by representatives of beneficiaries from 14 BNI offices throughout Indonesia who are connected online.
"In the series of Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia and part of the PEN program, BNI is trusted by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs to distribute Productive Presidential Assistance for micro-entrepreneurs amounting to Rp 2,400,000 per person," said Herry Sidharta at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday afternoon, 14 August 2020. He added, "The beneficiaries or entrepreneurs are PNM Mekaar customers who are spread across various regions in Indonesia."
For the first stage, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, in collaboration with PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (Persero) or PNM as the proposing agency, determined more than 316 thousand beneficiaries from micro-entrepreneurs channeled through BNI.
BNI was chosen to be a channeling bank because it was able to provide a well-integrated distribution system, from opening collective accounts to monitoring disbursements. BNI is also able to facilitate the beneficiaries in the account creating process (with the burekol system or opening a collective account) so that beneficiaries only need to activate the account before the savings book and debit card can be collected at BNI outlets. Thus, the assistance can be immediately used for productive activities in the context of the National Economic Recovery.
The place provided for the account activation process is at all BNI branches. In addition, BNI will provide a special account activation place for areas that are quite far from the nearest BNI branch. BNI has also prepared a dashboard for Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs that can be used to monitor the distribution process online and in real time.

All of these innovations in digitizing the distribution of social assistance, government assistance and subsidy programs are BNI's efforts in its function as an agent of development. BNI is obliged to make every government program successful, including ensuring that all social assistance programs, presidential assistance, and subsidies are distributed cashless and meet the 6T, namely right on target, right quality, right quantity, right price, on time, and right in administration," said Herry, closed the conversation.
