Encouraging People’s Business Loan (KUR) and Digitalization of Merchants, BNI Collaborates with Grab

Semarang, 24 March 2022 -- PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero), Tbk. or BNI (stock code : BBNI) continues to encourage the performance of MSME actors, especially through government subsidized financing for people's business loans (KUR). In order to boost the distribution of quality KUR as well as to digitize traders, BNI collaborates with ride-hailing service provider Grab Indonesia to target West Tomang Market traders as the first step in cooperation.

The KUR Distribution Cooperation was signed directly by BNI’s Institutional Relations Director, Sis Apik Wijayanto and President of Grab Indonesia, Ridzki Kramadibrata, Thursday (24/3/2022). The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto was present to witness while visiting the West Tomang Traditional Market, Jakarta.

Airlangga said that the government will always proactively support market traders to become recipients of BNI KUR as well as onboarding at GrabMerchant in the GrabMart service from Grab.

According to him, with support from BNI and Grab, Airlangga believes market traders can obtain a number of services, ranging from features, Banking financing, non-cash transaction facilities, online order management, access and support for online ads, as well as BNI CMS facilities for retribution payments to rent tenants. Grab and BNI will collaborate to provide the right service recommendations according to the needs of each market trader.

"The collaboration between Grab Indonesia and BNI aims to strengthen the foundation of traditional market traders with online sales platforms, expand payment access for customers with BNI Credit Cards and Debit Cards, as well as conduct onboarding for traditional market traders with the BNI KUR Debtor program," he said.

He said that in 2021, the contribution of MSMEs to the national GDP would reach 61.97 percent or Rp 8.6 trillion. These contributions, including those contributed by business actors in traditional markets in Indonesia, which according to BPS data in 2019 reached 15 ,657 traditional markets.

With this large contribution and role, it is hoped that efforts to accelerate the digitization of MSMEs, especially traditional market traders, which are also one of Indonesia's main focuses in the G20 Presidency in the economic field, can encourage the development of traditional markets to continue to contribute to the national economy in the future.

On the same occasion, the President of Grab Indonesia, Ridzki Kramadibrata said that in the midst of current conditions, digitalization is an important factor for MSMEs to be able to continue to survive and develop. For this reason, Grab Indonesia is committed to providing the widest possible digital access for all MSMEs, including market traders.

“Through the digitalization of traditional markets with Grab, market traders will get various convenience services to develop their businesses, ranging from online order management, non-cash payments, to access to online marketing. We hope to continue to expand Grab's collaboration with the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and BNI as a form of our commitment to support the development and acceleration of the digitalization of MSMEs as the backbone of the Indonesian economy."

In addition to collaborating with BNI and the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Grab Indonesia is also committed to carrying out several other digitization efforts to support the digitization of traditional markets, such as the implementation of ‘Order at Once’ feature. Through the 'Order at once' feature, consumers can buy products from various merchant partners in traditional markets in one order. This feature helps consumers to save money and supports the traditional market merchant community.

At the end of 2021, Grab has also announced a collaboration with Asparindo (Indonesian Market Management Association) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding as a form of Grab's commitment to support the digitalization of traditional markets and MSMEs in Indonesia.

BNI's Director of Institutional Relations, Sis Apik Wijayanto said, financing support for MSMEs through the KUR scheme is one of the most important supports for MSMEs to continue to grow, especially in the midst of a pandemic. This year, BNI has allocated around Rp 38 trillion KUR for MSMEs, including the traders at the West Tomang Market.

"BNI's support for MSMEs is strengthened through collaboration with Grab, which integrates our financing facilities with digitalization efforts that allow MSME players to be more efficient and agile to grow in the midst of a pandemic. We hope that this kind of support can continue to grow to support the sustainability of MSMEs in the long term," he concluded.
